Sun Guowen, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress from Huzhou, Zhejiang province called for more efforts to promote the digitalization of rural governance.

His motion to the nation's top legislative body primarily touched on rural vitalization and ecological civilization.

Sun, Party chief of Wusi village, Deqing county, Huzhou, has worked as a grass-roots official for 20 years. He has promoted the construction of a digitalized rural governance platform in Wusi village.

Digitalization is an essential part of rural vitalization, Sun noted. He hoped that more efforts would be made to strengthen top-level planning and data-sharing and reform rural governance procedures so as to set up an example for Zhejiang and all of China in the drive to achieve rural vitalization.

Sun also revealed that the Zhejiang NPC delegation submitted a motion to the NPC suggesting designating August 15 as National Ecological Civilization Day.
