Huzhou recognized for culture, tourism integration

Huzhou received the honorary title of "Best City in the Yangtze River Delta in Terms of the Integration of Culture and Tourism" at a conference on Sept 26.

Held in Zhenjiang, East China's Jiangsu province, the sixth Yangtze River Delta Slow Life Tourism Conference brought together a number of government officials, scholars and representatives from tourist destinations in the delta region to explore such topics as slow-life tourism, all-for-one tourism development and the integration of the culture and tourism sectors.

The awards presented at the conference were based on voting results of a panel of experts from the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai as well as 20 senior travel reporters from 10 mainstream media outlets nationwide.

The event was co-sponsored by Thepaper.cn, the organizing committee of the Yangtze River Delta Investment and Development Forum, the Yangtze River Delta Economic and Social Research Institute and the Zhenjiang Municipal People's Government.

Official data shows that the tourism revenue of the Yangtze River Delta region in 2019 exceeded 3 trillion yuan ($434.78 billion), accounting for nearly 9 percent of the global total.

The region received about 2.4 billion domestic and foreign tourists throughout the year, and the number of 5A scenic spots in the region accounts for more than one fifth of the total in China.
