Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has been actively promoting the power generation by renewables amid the nation's drive to achieve carbon neutrality.

China has set up goals of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

In 2020, Huzhou's electricity generated from new energy sources reached 2.195 billion kilowatt-hours, among which 1.38 billion kilowatt-hours were generated from photovoltaic power, official data from the Huzhou branch of the State Grid show.

By the end of 2020, the city's total installed capacity of new energy power generation was 2 million kilowatts. Clean energy accounted for 45 percent of the city's total installed power generation capacity.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, the installed capacity of new energy power generation in Huzhou increased by 1.8 million kilowatts.

In addition, the city has made great efforts to ensure clean energy consumption.

A total of 8.67 billion kWh of clean electricity generated from Huzhou had all been consumed during the period, an amount equivalent to electricity generated by consuming 3.5 million tons of coals, resulting in a drop of carbon dioxide emissions by 8.64 million tons.
