Situated six kilometers south of urban Huzhou, Liang Xi Forest Park was built in June 1988 in memory of Liang Xi, a famous forestry scientist and the first forestry minister of the People's Republic of China.

The park covers a total area of 739 mu (49.2 hectares) and offers captivating scenery all year round.

In the center of the park is Liang Xi Memorial Hall, a two-story building erected near a lake where the objects Liang used, the books he wrote, and the documents he signed are exhibited.

Born in Huzhou's Wuxing county in 1883, Liang served as dean of the School of Forestry at Central University, which is now Nanjing Forestry University, after studying in Japan and Germany.

In 1944, the Association of Scientific Workers, the predecessor of today's Jiusan Society, a political party in the nation, was established. Liang was one of its chief founders.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, he was appointed as the head of the Ministry of Forestry and Land Reclamation, which is now known as the National Forestry and Grassland  Administration.
