World renowned pianist and UN peace ambassador Lang Lang was recently appointed as the anti-fraud ambassador in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

Lang Lang has performed with leading orchestras in China, the United States, Canada, and Europe, such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

He said that it was a great honor for him to be Huzhou's anti-fraud ambassador, calling on local residents to stay alert to various kinds of cyber fraud.

The anti-fraud hotline 225000 has been launched in Huzhou, through which residents are encouraged to report cases to the police.

In 2020, nearly 1,098 high-risk telecom fraud cases were prevented since the launch of the hotline, saving more than 29.25 million yuan ($4.5 million) in public losses.

In March, Huzhou was designated as a safe city in Zhejiang province in 2020. This was the 14th time that the city has received this title. Comprehensively, it topped Zhejiang's safety index, an indicator measuring a city's safety level, in 2020.

Data from the Zhejiang provincial bureau of statistics showed that the satisfaction rate among local residents toward public security in the city was 97.92 percent, ranking second in the province.
