Box girders for the 15.6-km section of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Railway in Huzhou's Wuxing district recently started being erected, and the task is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
A total of 372 box girders, each with a weight of 800 metric tons, will be set up for the Wuxing section, and nine have been erected already, according to Niu Licai, a staff member at China Railway No3 Engineering Group Co Ltd.
The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Railway will span 163.8 kilometers and have a designed speed of up to 350 km/h.
The railway is expected to reduce travel time between Huzhou and Shanghai to just half an hour, turning Huzhou into a regional transport hub as the city will be the only one within one hour of Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Hefei by high-speed rail.
