The stadium that will host the 3-on-3 basketball competitions of the 19th Asian Games in Huzhou's Deqing county will be completed by the end of this month, according to local media reports.
Authorities have taken a string of measures to prevent the construction of the facility from being affected by the recent resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic in the city.
On March 12, over 1,000 construction workers at the construction site underwent nucleic acid tests, with all the results turning out to be negative.
To prevent workers from getting infected, an additional 60 containers have been turned into makeshift dorms for workers so that they can stay on site.
More of such makeshift houses will be set up to create a enclosed-loop management system.
Deqing has also been selected to host the group stage of the 19th Asian Games' volleyball event.
Deqing's rich experience in hosting high-profile sports events, and its proximity to Hangzhou, the main venue for the Asian Games, make it stand out from other candidates.
It only takes around 10 minutes to travel from Hangzhou to Deqing by bullet train.
A number of high-profile sporting events, including the 2019 Canoe Polo Asia Cup and the TNF Cross Country Race, have been staged in the county before.
