Huzhou's GDP targeted to reach 600b yuan in 2026

Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has set its gross domestic product (GDP) target for 2026 at 600 billion yuan ($92.3 billion), according to a government report delivered by Acting Mayor Hong Hupeng.

Hong delivered the report at the first session of the 9th Huzhou Municipal People's Congress that commenced in the city on April 12.

The government also unveiled a string of development goals for the next five-year period during the session.

According to the report, Huzhou will aim to lift both the annual industrial output above designated size and cumulative investment value in the city during the five-year period to over 1 trillion yuan.

The city has also set the goal of increasing its fiscal revenue to more than 100 billion yuan and bringing the number of listed companies in the city to 80 by 2026.

Regarding this year's goals, the government aims to grow its GDP by over 7.5 percent. The growth rate for investments in fixed assets and sales of social consumer goods are targeted to surpass 8 percent and 6.5 percent respectively.

The city has achieved remarkable development over the past five years, the report stated. The city's GDP has increased from 239.11 billion yuan in 2016 to 578.6 billion yuan in 2021, with the average annual rate being the second highest in Zhejiang.
