Huzhou's Deqing county recently donated roughly 7,500 kilograms of food, including vegetables, fruit and rice, to Shanghai, which has been battling its most severe COVID-19 outbreak.

The donation, comprising 1,000 packages, were loaded onto trucks on April 11 and distributed to residents in the city's Songjiang district a day later.

In light of the shortage of deliverymen on Shanghai's roads, a food delivery platform in Deqing has dispatched personnel to the city to provide point-to-point delivery service.

Tons of agricultural products are being sent from Deqing to Shanghai every day, according to the Deqing Women's Federation, which sponsored the donation of food.

Shanghai is undergoing a citywide lockdown aimed at containing its worst COVID-19 outbreak which, as of 10 am on April 12, had resulted in more than 13,281 confirmed cases since March 1.
