Tea seedlings donated by Huzhou's Anji county in recent years have helped relief poverty in some impoverished areas in China.

In April 2018, Anji decided to replicate its success in poverty elimination by growing Baiye Yihao, a variety of white tea, elsewhere in the nation.

To date, the county has donated white tea seedlings to five counties in three provinces - Guzhang county in Hunan province, Qingchuan county in Sichuan province, as well as Pu'an county, Yanhe county and Leishan in Guizhou province.

More than 500 professionals have been assigned to these places to offer technical guidance for tea planting.

Tea companies from Zhejiang have also signed agreements with the five counties, promising to purchase white tea grown by local farmers at prices not lower than the local market rate.

The donations of tea seedlings to date have increased the incomes of 6,600 people. In Guzhang county, the tea gardens have even emerged as popular rural scenic attractions.
