A bullet train attained a maximum speed of 385 km/h during a test run on the Huzhou-Hangzhou section of the Hefei-Hangzhou High-speed Railway on May 21.

The test result met requirements which stipulate that the maximum speed of the testing stage should be 10 percent faster than the designed speed of 350 km/h.

The railway line is slated to open in August.

The section spans 137.8 kilometers and has six stops, including Huzhou, Deqing, Hangzhou, Fuyang and Tonglu. Deqing and Tonglu are two sub-venues of the recently postponed Asian Games.

Besides boosting connectivity among Games venues, the railway will accelerate Huzhou's integration into the Yangtze River Delta, a region encompassing the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui as well as Shanghai municipality.

The railway will also bolster the construction of the "one-hour" traffic circle pattern in Zhejiang, in which passengers from a city in the province can get to another within an hour.
