Three Huzhou counties - Anji, Changxing and Deqing - have made it to the 2022 list of the top 100 counties (county-level cities) in China in terms of comprehensive tourism strength.

Anji topped the list for the fourth year in a row, while Changxing and Deqing were ranked third and seventh respectively, according to a report recently released by a Beijing-based consultancy.

The report evaluated 1,866 counties on the Chinese mainland based on their tourism revenue, facilities and services, as well as quality and market supervision.

Thirty-five places from Zhejiang made the top 100 list, the most out of all provinces in the nation. Seven places in Zhejiang were listed among the top 10.

In 2021, counties across the nation received an average of 4.38 million tourists and generated 3.62 billion yuan ($556.92 million)  in annual revenue on average, rebounding to the 84.39 percent and 80.95 percent of levels in 2019 respectively.

Among them, 24 counties earned more than 20 billion yuan in annual tourism revenue and 34 counties received more than 20 million tourists.

Notably, 114 counties - 14 more than 2020 – generated more than 10 billion yuan in tourism revenues and attracted over 10 million tourists.

Of the 114 counties, 17 are from Sichuan while another 17 are from Guizhou. This is followed by Zhejiang (15) and Hunan (11).
