Huzhou is ready to host the 2022 China Green Low Carbon Innovation Conference, which will be held on Aug 15 and 16 in the city, the organizers announced on Aug 10 at a news conference in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

The conference, which is sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, comprises a seminar and six themed forums.

More than 2,000 luminaries including 58 academicians from home and abroad will attend the event and share insights into topics including ecological civilization, energy revolution, pollution elimination and carbon reduction.

Elizabeth Mulema, executive secretary of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, Nobel Prize winner Andre Geim, and Peter Nolan, the Chinese Executive Leadership Programme (CELP) at the University of Cambridge, will also participate virtually.

In addition, the event will witness the inauguration of the Xisai Scientific Valley and the signing of agreements for projects that will be established in the valley.

Long hailed as a model in the nation's campaign to create a green and low carbon economy, Huzhou will use the conference as a chance to develop a high-end national platform for cooperation and exchanges in green and low carbon development in the city, authorities said.
