Huzhou's Changxing county has been making steady progress in its green and low-carbon development.

Due to concerted efforts to achieve this goal, Changxing is now the most proficient county in Huzhou in terms of garbage sorting and recycling.

In Changxing's Shuikou township, for example, residents can sell recyclable trash via an online platform. Trucks are then assigned to collect the trash.

Shuikou is home to nearly 600 homestays and agritainment venues, the most in northern Zhejiang. The volume of recyclable garbage such as beer bottles, foam boxes and woven bags in the township can amount to more than 1,200 metric tons annually.

Changxing has also rolled out the nation's first county-level management standard related to garbage classification at homestays or agritainment venues.

In addition to garbage sorting, the county has been actively pursuing green industrial transformation to reduce carbon emissions.

In Changxing's Meishan town, a 35-kilometer conveyor belt, the longest of its kind in the world, now runs through the mountains, carrying cement clinkers to a nearby wharf. The first cross-provincial logistics project in China that is completely powered by electricity, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 22,800 cubic meters per day.

Furthermore, Changxing has built a national green industrial park and nine national green factories to support its green development goals.

The local government is now planning to accelerate the building of a green and low-carbon industrial system that would allow people to reap the benefits of green development.
