The new campus of Zhejiang University of Water Resources and Electric Power in Huzhou's Nanxun district was inaugurated on Sept 1, according to local media reports.

The campus broke ground in November 2020 after its construction being approved by the provincial government.

With an investment of 2.5 billion yuan ($384.62 million), the school spans 1,271 mu  (84.73 hectares) and is only four kilometers away from Nanxun Ancient Town, a national 5A scenic attraction in Huzhou.

The campus is also equipped with testing facilities, including a pumped storage power station, a smart storage microgrid, and an irrigation system, which will help students gain a better understanding of their fields.

The school, which is offering 31 undergraduate majors and 6 junior majors, will welcome the first batch of nearly 5,000 students on Sept 17.

The inauguration ceremony also witnessed the establishment of a research institute jointly set up by the school and Nanxun district, and the signing of a strategic agreement between the school and CISPDR Corporation.
