Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province was again honored as a national demonstration city for public health safeguards recently.
This is the second time the city has been conferred the honorary title after it was ranked fourth in a national public health work assessment.
In 2021, the health literacy level among local residents reached 39.9 percent, the second highest in Zhejiang.
The campaign launched by Huzhou to provide residents in the central urban area with access to gyms within a 10-minute walk has also seen steady progress.
In addition, the city has been leading Zhejiang in tackling pollution and promoting household garbage classification.
Huzhou has completed the construction of 266 "waste-free" city cells to date. "Waste-free" city cells refer to places like factories, industrial parks, villages, schools, homestays, and mines that minimize the impact of solid waste on the environment.
The city was ranked first in a provincial evaluation for "waste-free" construction in Zhejiang in 2021. The ranking was made based on the waste-free index, the first of its kind in the nation.
Furthermore, Huzhou has been continuously building health promotion facilities to provide more health-related services to residents.
