Consumers in Huzhou's Changxing county can now learn about information related to the food they purchase simply by scanning QR codes displayed at market stalls.

Xinnongdu, the largest wholesale market of agricultural products in Changxing, has recently started displaying these codes at stalls selling meat, aquatic products and vegetables, becoming the first in Huzhou to do so.

Each vender has been given a unique code. By scanning the code, information such as food name, place of origin, producer and seller can be retrieved, according to Zhao Jian, a local market supervision official.

In the future, all food sold in the market will be traceable.
