The plantation of white tea in Huzhou's Anji county was recently listed among the national cases for boosting high-quality agricultural development.

The list, compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, is a recognition of efforts by places across the nation to seek agricultural development by cultivating new varieties, improving quality, enhancing brand building and facilitating standardized production.

This year, Anji has produced 2,100 metric tons of white tea valued at 3.2 billion yuan ($440.77 million), official statistics show.

In April, Anji white tea ranked eighth in China in the annual ranking of regional public tea brand value, according to a survey released at the 2022 China Tea Conference.

This is the 13th consecutive year that the tea has made the top 10 list. Despite maintaining the same rank as the previous year, Anji white tea's brand value has increased by about 7.2 percent year-on-year to about 4.85 billion yuan.

The tea plantation has generated over 8,800 yuan in per capita annual income for local farmers.

In addition, the county has sent white tea seedlings to five impoverished counties in three provinces since 2018. The donations have greatly increased the incomes of residents of these places.
