A tourism route in Huzhou's Nanxun district recently made the 2022 list of beautiful rural leisure tourism routes in China.
Fifty-four tourism routes made the list released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The listed route in Nanxun district has five stops: Shicong village, Shanlian town, Xibao village, Digang village, and Nanxun Ancient Town.
Visitors to Shicong village, the first stop of the route, can admire flowers and sample crayfish.
They can then learn about the skills used in making Huzhou writing brush in Shilian town, a national 3A scenic spot.
The route's third stop, Xibao village, is renowned for producing Red Beauty, a premium variety of mandarin orange that costs on average a whopping 50 yuan ($7) per kilogram.
Digang village is the fourth stop and is a must-visit place for those who wish to experience farming culture.
Digang is renowned for its mulberry fish ponds, a special dike-pond model that integrates fish ponds with the breeding of mulberry silkworms. The model was listed as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2017.
The route ends at the Nanxun Ancient Town, the only national 5A scenic spot in Huzhou. Founded in 1252 during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the town is listed among the top six ancient towns in Jiangnan.
