The section of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Railway at Huzhou Railway Station is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in April, according to local traffic authorities.
By the end of this December, 70 percent of the track in the railway's Huzhou section is expected to be laid.
Construction did not stop even during the Spring Festival, and nearly 700 construction workers have resumed work after the seven-day holiday, according to the project manager.
The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Railway will span 163.8 kilometers and have a designed speed of up to 350 km/h. Slated to begin operations in 2024, the railway will have three stops in Huzhou, of which the one in Huzhou's Nanxun district is newly built.
The railway is expected to reduce travel time between Huzhou and Shanghai to just half an hour, turning Huzhou into a regional transport hub as the city will be the only one within one hour of Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Hefei by high-speed rail.
