3.24m trips made in Huzhou during Spring Festival rush

Some 3.24 million passenger trips were made in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush this year as people across the nation traveled freely following the optimization of COVID-19 control measures last month.

The travel rush began on Jan 7 and ended on Feb 15.

Of the total trips made in Huzhou, 753,000 trips were made via railways, about 2.47 million by road and 24,000 by water, official statistics show.

According to a staff member at Huzhou Railway Station, Huzhou recorded a year-on-year uptick of 36.05 percent in railway passenger volume this year, with the majority of people traveling from the city to Sichuan and Guizhou provinces.

Car trips on Huzhou's expressways peaked at 347,600 on Jan 10 before the Spring Festival holiday, before reaching another peak of 386,200 after the holiday on Feb 10.
