A launch ceremony was held in Hangzhou on March 16 to mark the start of a series of events welcoming the Asian Games and promoting unity among ethnic groups in regions that are receiving partner assistance from Zhejiang province.

"These events will showcase the harmonious atmosphere of all ethnic groups in welcoming the Asian Games," an official said.

During the series of events, children from different ethnic groups will visit Asian Games venues, as well as participate in cultural and tourism related activities in Zhejiang. This will provide an opportunity for children from different ethnic groups to deepen their understanding and communication with each other.

At the end of the ceremony, representatives from Zhejiang and other regions jointly planted a pomegranate forest, symbolizing the unity of the 11 cities in Zhejiang.

Zhejiang province is known for its diverse population of 56 ethnic groups, making it a unique and culturally rich province. Moreover, Zhejiang stands out as the only province in East China to have an autonomous county for ethnic minorities.
