A carbon emission measurement system developed by the Huzhou branch of the State Grid was recently honored as a national model project for energy and resources metering services in 2022 by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Development and Reform Commission.

The precise measurement of carbon emissions is seen as key to helping China achieve its goals of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and attaining carbon neutrality before 2060.

Featuring spaceborne hyperspectral greenhouse gas detection technologies, the system developed by the Huzhou branch of the State Grid has been applied in some large fossil fuel power plants in Huzhou.

The system can monitor carbon emissions in real time through satellites that cover an area of 100 square kilometers.

In addition, the company had unveiled a system to evaluate carbon emission performances of high energy consuming enterprises in 2021. The system, the first of its kind in the nation, has been utilized by 49,000 above-designated-size companies across Zhejiang to date.
