Shuanglin town in Huzhou's Nanxun district has built a number of workshops to create jobs for the surplus rural labor force as part of efforts to achieve common prosperity.

The 11 workshops built in the town have created jobs for more than 800 rural residents, official statistics show.

Among them are five workshops that have been built in cooperation with some labor-intensive companies. These workshops have hired 556 people who are paid an average of 50,000 yuan ($7,256.91) every year.

Meanwhile, tourism facilities like an amusement park and a leisure orchard have been built on idle land in Houba, a village administered by Shuanglin, as part of common prosperity efforts. Some local folk dwellings have also been transformed into homestays.

These new additions to the village have generated jobs for more than 40 locals.

Zhejiang announced in December 2022 that it would build 10,000 common prosperity workshops in its 26 mountainous county-level areas in the following three years.
