Two architectural projects in Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province are currently being featured at China's National Pavilion at the 2023 Venice International Architecture Biennale, which opened on June 12 in Venice, Italy.

The exhibition at China's National Pavilion showcases the artistic designs and concepts of Chinese architects who incorporate residents and nature, tradition and modernity. It focuses on the evolution of China's architecture and habitats over the past 40 decades.

Among the exhibits are the two from Huzhou, a sightseeing platform and a renovated sluice, both of which are part of a scheme launched by the local government to spruce up villages in the Southern Taihu Lake District through micro-renovations.

The sightseeing platform, which is 12 meters high, is built over a wide expanse of rice fields. The renovated sluice is visible from the platform, and its new facade has revitalized the surrounding landscape. Both projects were completed in 2022.

The China National Pavilion can be visited both online and in person and will remain open until Nov 26. China's National Pavilion has participated in the Biennale since 2005.
