The inaugural China Children's Wear Global Procurement Conference, held earlier this month in Huzhou's Zhili town, has been hailed a success, with over 30 foreign buyers from countries such as Syria, Egypt, Yemen, and Libya in attendance.

Held during the third China Children's Wear Fashion Week, which also took place in Zhili town, the event is said to have generated over 25 million yuan ($3.48 million) worth of orders for local children's wear companies.

One company which benefited from the conference is Huzhou Jinfen Clothing Co Ltd, which received an order for children's jackets from a new Indonesian customer, marking the company's first time exporting children's clothing to Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, a buyer from Egypt placed an order for children's clothing worth 2.5 million yuan during the event, which will be exported to Algeria by Zhejiang Xinci Import and Export Trading Co Ltd under the market procurement trade model.

The conference was the first event held by Zhili to attract large-scale overseas buyers after it was designated as a national pilot zone for the market procurement trade model in September 2021. Its success is expected to bring new momentum to the growth of the local children's wear industry, according to an official at the Wuxing bureau of commerce.

Zhili is a national manufacturing hub for children's wear and is home to 14,000 market entities involved in the sector. Companies in the town only need around three hours to transform a design sketch into a physical product.
