A store selling agricultural products from Wulan county in Qinghai province opened its doors to the public in Huzhou on Oct 7.

The store, located on Fenghuang Road, offers a wide range of products, including Chaka sheep, Qaidam yak, and quinoa.

Chaka sheep are known for their semi-fine wool and are native to the Chaka Salt Lake area on the Qinghai Plateau. The meat of these sheep is rich in minerals and vitamins, with a tender and fragrant taste and devoid of any gamey smell or greasiness. As a result, they have been historically praised as a tribute to emperors.

Qian Jie, an official from Huzhou currently serving as the deputy Party chief of Wulan, explained that Huzhou has been providing assistance to Wulan since 2010, when the two areas were paired under the east-west poverty relief program initiated by the central government.

One example of this assistance is Zhejiang Maibafu Agricultural Products Co Ltd, a Huzhou-based agricultural product company that has set up operations in Wulan. Their aim is to help sell local green and organic agricultural and livestock products.

Shi Weihong, the person in charge of Zhejiang Maibafu Agricultural Products Co Ltd, revealed that they have not only built a large cold chain processing plant in Wulan but have also enhanced the cold chain distribution supply chain. This improvement intends to boost the sales of high-quality green and organic agricultural and livestock products from Wulan to the Yangtze River Delta region.

Qian Jie stated that in the future, their goal is to bring more high-quality agricultural and related products from Wulan into the homes of Huzhou citizens. This will serve as a new engine to support local rural revitalization through consumer support.
