The groundbreaking ceremony of an ecological agriculture base located in Baowei village, Donglin town, Wuxing district, Huzhou was held on Oct 21.

Once completed, it will become China's largest automated black soldier fly breeding base, producing an estimated annual output of 7,000 metric tons of high-quality insect protein and generating an estimated annual revenue of 30 million yuan ($4.1 million).

The agricultural facilities within the base will encompass approximately 36 mu (2.4 hectares), with a total investment of around 120 million yuan. This includes the construction of breeding workshops, agricultural storage facilities, and management buildings covering a total area of about 8,000 square meters.
