Huzhou has been shortlisted as a candidate for the esteemed title of Cultural City of Eastern Asia in August 2021.

Renowned for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance, Huzhou boasts a plethora of treasures that are a must-visit for any traveler exploring the city.

One such treasure is Shiquan village, which holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Wu Jun, a prominent literary figure during the Liang Dynasty (502-557). With a history that spans over 1,500 years, this quaint village, just a quick 30-minute drive from downtown Huzhou, offers a captivating glimpse into the past.

Seizing this opportunity to become the Cultural City of Eastern Asia, the officials in Shiquan village, led by He Lixia, have been diligently exploring the historical and cultural resources of the area. Their efforts have culminated in the continuous improvement of cultural facilities and the seamless integration of the cultural and tourism industries.

Adding to Huzhou's allure is the magnificent Datang Tribute Culture Tourism Resort, an indispensable destination for travelers seeking a taste of China's regal heritage. This historical site, which served as the first royal tea processing facility in China, offers a rare opportunity to savor the Zisun tea, hailed as the finest tea in the nation by the esteemed scholar Lu Yu in The Classic of Tea.

For those with an insatiable appetite for knowledge and history, the Huzhou Museum awaits. Apart from its collection of invaluable cultural relics, the museum is currently hosting exhibitions that showcase gifts received from Shimada, Japan, and objects and photographs from Yeongam and Cheongju in South Korea. These exhibitions serve as a testament to Huzhou's commitment to establishing strong ties with its sister cities in East Asia.
