Huzhou native selected as CAS academician

The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering recently announced the results of their 2023 academician selection. A total of 59 academicians were elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, while the Chinese Academy of Engineering welcomed 74 new members.

Among the esteemed academicians, Hu Shimin, a native of Huzhou, was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This achievement adds to the city's prestige, as it now boasts a total of 43 academicians.

Born in 1968 in Huzhou's Changxing county, Hu Shimin currently holds the position of professor and doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University's Department of Computer Science. With a primary research focus on computer graphics, geometric computation, and artificial intelligence, Hu Shimin is widely recognized for his contributions in the field. In 2019, he was honored with the China Computer Federation Wang Xuan Award, showcasing his outstanding achievements in the realm of computer science.
