The Linghu Fishery Association, located in Huzhou's Nanxun district, recently became the only association in Huzhou to be recognized as one of the top 100 Agricultural Technology Associations in 2023 by the China Rural Special Technology Association.

Since its establishment in October 2012, the Linghu Fishery Association has experienced remarkable growth, now encompassing 120 member units. It plays a pivotal role in creating employment opportunities for over 30,000 individuals in the thriving fishery industry. The association's influence extends beyond Nanxun district, reaching provinces and cities such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangxi, and Anhui. It holds the distinction of being the first township service station under the China Fisheries Society and serves as a vice-president of the China Fisheries Association.

Linghu town boasts an expansive water aquaculture area of 75,210 mu (5,014 hectares). This has resulted in a fishery output of 91,761 metric tons and a staggering fishery production value of 1.93 billion yuan ($270.13 million). The fishery industry dominates the town's agricultural landscape, accounting for 85 percent of the total agricultural output value, solidifying its position as one of China's premier freshwater fish bases.

To cater to the needs of Linghu town's water aquaculture industry, the Linghu Fishery Association serves as a hub for a wide array of essential services, including water quality and disease detection, product testing, technology promotion and training, expert consultations, fishery dispute mediation, and popular science education. The association conducts over 1,000 routine tests annually and has skillfully mediated more than 50 fishery disputes, provided invaluable expert consultations on over 40 occasions, and offered crucial training to over 1,000 fishermen.
