Huzhou, located in East China's Zhejiang province, is set to welcome a new cultural landmark, as the National Library of China has selected the city as the location for its first venture in Zhejiang.

In collaboration with Huzhou Transportation Group, the library will build a comprehensive cultural and creative facility in Huzhou. The facility will serve as a hub for a rich tapestry of activities, including exhibitions, shows, recreational programs, and educational training sessions.

The cooperative agreement between the National Library of China and Huzhou Transportation Group was signed on Jan 22.

This collaboration represents a significant milestone in the National Library's expansion strategy, as it aims to extend its services beyond the capital of Beijing. Construction for the project is scheduled to begin next month, with an anticipated completion date by the end of June.

The establishment of this cultural facility in Huzhou encapsulates the substantial growth of the city's cultural industry in recent years. In 2023, Huzhou attracted 47 significant cultural industry projects, totaling 31 billion yuan ($4.32 billion). In addition, the city welcomed the addition of 56 above-designated-size cultural enterprises and the listing of five cultural businesses on the public market over the past year.
