Huzhou, located in Zhejiang province, achieved a significant milestone as its industrial output value surpassed 1 trillion yuan ($139.02 billion) in 2023, making it the sixth city in the province to this economic feat, according to official statistics.

Notably, the industrial output of above-designated-size companies in the city surpassed the 700-billion mark, reaching 700.8 billion yuan. These companies also experienced a 4.6 percent increase in added value over the past year, with the growth rate being 8.5 percentage points higher than the first quarter.

These exceptional performances can be primarily attributed to the sustained efforts made by the local government to bolster the development of traditional industries such as furniture, home decoration, children's clothing, and textile materials, while simultaneously focusing on the transformation and upgrading of industries such as printing and dyeing, cement, casting, and building materials.

Throughout the year, Huzhou welcomed the establishment of four provincial-level future factories, bringing the total number of such companies to five, alongside 61 provincial-level intelligent factories. Additionally, the city saw the addition of an industrial industry brain, with a cumulative total of 59 provincial industrial internet platform enterprises, securing the third position in the province.

In 2023, Huzhou also celebrated the arrival of 29 national "little giant" enterprises, solidifying its position as the nationwide leader in the number of national "little giant" enterprises per 10 billion yuan of GDP.
