Huzhou took a significant step towards its ambition of becoming a model ecological civilization city by revealing new regulations in Beijing on April 18.

Scheduled to be enforced from May 1, the regulations aim to provide a legal framework ensuring Huzhou's ecological progress and environmental protection.

Lyu Zhongmei, deputy director of the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of the 14th National People's Congress, conveyed congratulations on behalf of the committee, emphasizing that the newly promulgated regulations represent innovative practices in ecological civilization construction. She highlighted their focus on crucial issues in establishing ecological civilization model cities, noting that they will enhance China's unique ecological legal framework and accumulate practical experience for national legislation.

During the announcement, Chen Hao, Party chief of Huzhou, delivered the keynote address, and Mayor Hong Hupeng delineated the implementation arrangements of the regulations.

The regulations, which underwent deliberation and approval during the fourth session of the ninth Huzhou Municipal People's Congress and the ninth session of the Standing Committee of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, consist of 10 chapters and 79 articles. They cover various areas, including low-carbon development, ecological protection and restoration, pollution prevention and control, realization of ecological product value, and ecological cultural construction, among others.
