Huzhou in Zhejiang province triumphed in the final evaluation to become the 2025 Culture City of East Asia, which was held in Beijing on May 10.
The Culture City of East Asia program began in 2012, with a total of 35 cities from China, Japan, and South Korea being selected over the years. China now proudly claims 15 cities, including Chengdu and Qingdao, that have been bestowed with this prestigious title.
Initially, 14 cities, including Huzhou, were shortlisted as candidate cities for the 2025 honor based on their applications. After rigorous preliminary evaluations and on-site inspections, Huzhou, alongside five other cities, advanced to the final evaluation round.
Looking to the future, Huzhou aims to capitalize on this achievement by curating a diverse range of cultural and tourism activities, actively participating in national-level cultural and tourism exchanges, and fervently promoting mutual learning and exchanges in East Asian humanities.
