Early arrival of Chengshangou peaches delights consumers
Chengshangou peaches, renowned as a quintessential summer delight in Changxing county, Huzhou, have made an early debut in the market.
The current offerings feature the prized Chunmei variety, known for its exceptional flavor, sweetness, and exquisite appearance. Despite arriving five to six days ahead of schedule, this year's crop of Chunmei exceeds the standards of previous seasons, according to Fang Ensheng, manager of the agricultural production department at the Chengshangou Agricultural Sightseeing Park.
Daily loads of the freshly harvested peaches weighing in at between 250 and 300 kilograms are swiftly transported to authorized stores, where consumers await them eagerly. Their allure is such that they often sell out before morning's end. In cases of afternoon shortages, workers promptly return to the orchard for additional harvesting.
Encompassing over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares), the Chengshangou Agricultural Sightseeing Park currently sees a daily harvest of 300 to 350 kg of early-maturing peach varieties. Excitement is building for mid-June, with forecasts indicating that as other peach varieties ripen successively, the daily harvest volume could soar to 3.5 to 4 tons.
