Huzhou's green initiatives shine at COP29
The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is in session in Baku, Azerbaijan, from Nov 11 to 22, with around 50 national leaders, international organization heads, and over 3,500 representatives from all walks of life attending.
Huzhou city in Zhejiang province, invited by the UNFCCC Secretariat as a co-organizer, took the spotlight at a side event focusing on industry, climate, and trade policy coordination. As the sole Chinese prefecture-level city to attend the event, Huzhou delivered a keynote speech, showcasing its innovative approaches.
Since 2018, Huzhou has participated in four UN global conferences, been recognized as a "Biodiversity Charming City", and joined the CitiesWithNature initiative.
During the event, the Huzhou delegation shared insights into the leveraging of digital technologies for green, low-carbon industrial growth, offering practical examples to support global sustainability efforts. Attendees watched a promotional video of Huzhou and received city brochures and eco-friendly souvenirs.

The Center for International Knowledge on Development highlighted the event's significance in fostering dialogue between China and nations in the Global South. Huzhou's pioneering role is crucial in sharing green development practices with the world, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
