A lantern show welcomed Spring Festival on Jan 18 at the Shangzhu Mountain Fantasy Valley scenic spot in Deqing county, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, and will be open from 5:30 pm to 9 pm until Feb 16, except Jan 28.
The lantern show draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese text Classic of Mountains and Seas, featuring 18 grand lantern displays crafted by over 80 colored lantern artisans from Sichuan province.
Visitors were awestruck by the brilliance of the displays while learning about the ancient myths and legends recorded in Classic of Mountains and Seas. These enchanting lantern sets, depicting mythical creatures, have captivated the attention of both locals and tourists, creating a dreamlike atmosphere throughout the Fantasy Valley.
In addition to the lantern show, the scenic area will also offer activities like dragon dance and sugar painting experiences to immerse visitors in Chinese traditions during Spring Festival.
The lantern festival, now in its second year, has become a hallmark cultural event in Deqing, promoting intangible cultural heritage and bolstering the local cultural tourism sector.
