Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 has made history by dominating the global box office during Spring Festival, backed by its stunning visual effects.
Zhejiang Niwanxing Cultural Communication Co from Deqing county, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, has contributed to the overall success with its exceptional work on seven challenging shots.
The company crafted a pivotal battle scene in the film, dividing a single shot into multiple layers and spending nearly eight months perfecting it through repeat adjustments. Although it is only 25.7 seconds long, it has received much praise from audiences.
Niwanxing's expertise in computer animation and storytelling was showcased not only in Ne Zha 2 but also in the award-winning Legend of Deification in 2020. The film's co-director and executive producer, Wang Xin, is the founder of Niwanxing.
Also, the company's members are veteran producers, artists and engineers involved in the production of animated films such as Monkey King: Hero Is Back, Ne Zha, and Deep Sea.
"In my opinion, Deqing is a county of balance and fusion," said Wang. While vacationing with his family, Wang passed through Deqing and was immediately captivated by its picturesque natural scenery.
"On further exploration, I discovered that this place not only boasts beautiful landscapes but also a great technological atmosphere, favorable for commercial animated film production," Wang added.
The company's small but highly skilled team focuses on various aspects of animation production, from story planning to character designs and animation technology developments.
The work, rooted in Chinese traditions and local customs, aims to captivate young audiences worldwide with high-quality, culturally rich content.
"China's animation industry is like a tender sprout in the spring. Although there is still a long way to go, with the rich and profound Chinese culture, it will eventually find a way to suit its own cultural output," Wang said.
