The Longxing Green Energy Company, a joint venture between Chinese group Wangneng Environment and Vietnamese company Dragonventures, broke ground on June 28 on a waste-to-energy plant in Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, Vietnam.

Headquartered in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, Wangneng Environment is a leading company that provides solid waste solutions.

The new plant will occupy nearly six hectares, designed to process 600 metric tons of waste daily with a power generation capacity of 15 megawatts.

Utilizing Wangneng Environment's advanced incineration technology and mature management systems, the facility will annually process 219,000 tons of waste and generate around 120 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity.

The initiative addresses the growing waste management needs of Thai Binh province and its surroundings — significantly enhancing the region's ecosystem, while providing stable clean energy to support local green development.

The introduction of modern waste-to-energy technology is expected to transform local traditional waste management practices. By implementing a closed-loop system of benign waste treatment and efficient resource utilization, the project aims to elevate the environmental quality and facilitate a green economic transition in Thai Binh province, serving as a model for sustainable urbanization in Vietnam.

Dan Chao, chairman of Wangneng Environment, said that by leveraging its mature technology and lean operations, the group aimed to offer waste-to-energy solutions worldwide.
