A plant operated by Zhejiang Shengge Home Furnishing Company in Nanxun district, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, which once reeked of the pungent odor of old-fashioned paint, is now filled with the fresh and clean scent of water-based paints.

In 2021, Shengge paused production for six months in order to make its transition from oil-based to water-based processes, achieving a green transformation. The company's eco-friendly furniture now meets the highest formaldehyde emission standards, with orders on the rise.

"In the first half of this year, sales exceeded 20 million yuan ($2.8 million), with 20 percent from wooden crafts featuring intangible cultural heritage elements," said Zhu Guangwei, general manager of the company.

In Nanxun district, the innovative transformation of the Yangtze River Delta Nanxun Silk Culture Industrial Park has breathed new life into the silk industry.

The park's integrated shop-factory model offers a novel consumer experience. "Since relocating here, our clientele has expanded nationwide, tripling our revenue," said Zheng Yueliang, head of Huzhou Siyun Silk Garment Company.

The park revitalized 36,000 square meters of idle factories, attracting 112 quality merchants into a silk production cluster.

Supported by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University's Huzhou Research Institute, the park is exploring a development path with the integration of culture and technology.

"We are promoting innovative development in the silk industry, integrating AI-generated content technology and AI designs to digitize cultural heritage and infuse traditional industries with technology," said Yao Shen, director of the institute.
