Huzhou project wins prize at BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest

The awards ceremony for the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest 2025 took place on Sept 16 in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian province.

An innovative project for promoting the green and digital transformation of industries in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province distinguished itself among 360 entries in the Green Industry category, earning second place.

The contest featured the Artificial Intelligence, Green Industry, General Aviation, New Energy Industry, and Industrial Design categories.

The competition attracted 1,396 projects from countries and regions, including China, Brazil, Russia, India, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Indonesia, Bolivia, and Malaysia.

Winning projects were included in the BRICS industrial innovation cooperation project database, aiming to strengthen practical cooperation in industrial innovation among BRICS nations.

In recent years, Huzhou has explored effective ways to promote its green and digital transformation of industries, including pioneering the Industrial Carbon Efficiency Code that is used for controlling carbon emissions in the industrial sector.

The innovative project has introduced Green Finance Supermarket, Green Energy Supermarket, and Green Transformation Supermarket platforms in the industrial sector.

The Green Finance Supermarket issued over 70 billion yuan ($9.85 billion) in carbon efficiency loans, the Green Energy Supermarket facilitated nearly 300 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity transactions, and the Green Transformation Supermarket provided services for over 1,200 companies to promote their green transformation projects.
