Huzhou's cosmetics industry enters peak season
As the autumn and winter seasons mark the peak in demand for the daily chemical industry, Daixi town in Huzhou city, East China's Zhejiang province, known as "China's Beauty Town", is experiencing a surge in demand.
Home to over 300 cosmetics manufacturers and related businesses, the town is transforming into a beauty industry powerhouse.
In 2024, the town's beauty industry output exceeded 10 billion yuan ($1.41 billion). In the first half of this year, exports from Daixi's beauty business enterprises hit 182 million yuan, a 65.5 percent increase year-on-year.
With China's "Double 11" shopping festival fast approaching, local companies are ramping up their production of skincare, fragrances, and cleaning products. These products are widely expected to gain popularity in both domestic and international markets.
At Lamer Cosmetics (Huzhou) Co, digital production lines are at full capacity, efficiently producing over 200,000 hand creams daily, according to Zhao Sheng, deputy general manager of the company.
Lamer Cosmetics' automation strategy has boosted production efficiency by 50 percent. Specializing in high-end skincare and fragrances, the company's hand creams sold over 20 million units domestically in 2024.
The company is also expanding overseas, with foreign orders comprising 80 percent of total sales, primarily in the Middle East and the United States.
Meanwhile, Swipe (Huzhou) Consumer Products Co is maximizing its production of household cleaning and baby care products, with 75 percent destined for export. "We aim to reach an output value of 70 million yuan this year," said Lin Wenqing, general manager of the company.
