The city of Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, renowned for its stunning landscapes, has become a beacon of sustainable rural tourism.

Embracing the development philosophy that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", the city has pioneered an innovative path that enhances ecological beauty, boosts industries, and enriches residents.

Pubu, a new waterfall-themed cafe in Anji county's Yucun village, has transformed what was once an abandoned mining site into a popular attraction. The cafe integrates camping, gardens, and an art experience center, drawing significant attention from tourists.

In 2024, Yucun village received a total of 1.22 million visits, with tourism revenue reaching 60 million yuan ($8.42 million), greatly increasing the incomes of local villagers.

Huzhou's rural tourism has evolved through various stages, from simple farm stays to comprehensive rural lifestyle experiences.

In Changxing county, the Taihu Youfeng Youth Market offers over 30 booths with various crafts, creative goods, and delicious foods, attracting over 6,000 visits daily and becoming a popular nightlife destination in Zhejiang.

Huzhou's villages now feature diverse cultural and tourism offerings that attract young entrepreneurs and significantly boost the local economy. The city's rural tourism revenue grew from 6.42 billion yuan in 2016 to 14.2 billion yuan in 2024.
