Anji county in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, made the list of China's 2025 top 10 pet-friendly model city regions, as announced at the 2026 China Pet Industry Data Conference on Jan 5 and 6.

The award, established by the editorial committee of the 2026 China Pet Industry White Paper, evaluates areas based on their pet-friendly policies, public facilities, and cultural activities, aiming to promote pet-friendly urban environments.

Anji, the birthplace of China's green development philosophy that holds "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", is committed to promoting sustainable development. The county has embraced the pet economy by integrating green development principles into the pet industry and creating a pet-friendly environment.

On Oct 31, 2023, Anji opened its first pet-friendly park, a free-access hotspot featuring enclosed green spaces with safety facilities, waste disposal stations, and pet entertainment amenities. It provides a safe, vibrant space where pets can play freely and enjoy a variety of activities.

Beyond parks, Anji has been advancing pet-friendly urban development by integrating pet-friendly culture with cultural tourism and industrial upgrades.

On Dec 14, 2025, Anji launched the "2025 Human-Pet Friendly Promotion Action", advocating for a more inclusive, responsible society.

To promote pet-friendly living, Anji has increased the number of pet-friendly campsites, cafes, and homestays and has hosted a wide range of pet-themed activities.

Currently, Anji boasts 17 pet-friendly scenic spots rated A-level or above, 41 pet service venues, and 109 pet-friendly homestays, establishing it as a prime destination for pet-themed tourism in the Yangtze River Delta region.
