Huzhou's first-quarter GDP up 6.0 percent
Huzhou's GDP reached over 109.05 billion yuan ($15.96 billion) in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 6.0 percent year-on-year increase.
Value-added industrial output from industrial enterprises above the designated size, or those with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan, rose by 9.3 percent year-on-year.
Of the city's 33 major industrial categories, 25 posted growth. The value-added output in the automotive manufacturing sector and the computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing sector led with increases of 34.2 percent and 28.5 percent, respectively.
Value-added output in the services sector increased by 5.0 percent in the quarter. The wholesale and retail sector grew 4.7 percent, the accommodation and catering sector by 8.2 percent, financial service sector by 6.2 percent, and the profit-driven service sector by 9.8 percent.
Retail sales of consumer goods rose by 2.1 percent year-on-year in the first quarter. Communication equipment and home appliances saw strong sales growth, increasing by 20.1 percent and 22.1 percent, while new energy vehicle sales grew by 8.9 percent.
Per capita disposable income for all residents reached 23,960 yuan, up 5.9 percent from a year earlier. For urban residents, per capita disposable income rose 5.3 percent to 27,364 yuan. For rural residents, per capita disposable income reached 18,341 yuan, up 6.5 percent.
