Asihatu Hoodoos
The Asihatu Hoodoos or Asihatu Stone Forest is located at the north mountain northeast of Hexigten Banner of Chifeng. Asihatu granite is a rare stone forest landform.
Within an area of 5 sq km, there are odd mountains and stones with different shapes and nearly 1,000 of stelae, rock jungle and ostrich stone.
The stone forest was created because the rock mass of the region has rare horizontal proterozoic rock joints and vertical rock joints. Magma, glaciers, thawing ice, wind erosion and landslip due to gravity formed it.
Asihatu Stone Forest Tourist District has both stone forests and grassland. It is a multi-functional geological park combining such functions as scientific study, viewing, sightseeing, popular science education, leisure and holiday making, entertainment and exploration.
With an area of 3 sq km, the Stone Forest Ski Run has new equipment and an advanced design, and offers scenic natural views.
Travelers taking the train can go to Chifeng first and then transfer to a mini-bus to go to Tianheyuan township and then hire a local vehicle. Travelers can also rent a vehicle to directly go there from Chifeng, Jingpeng town or Linxi town.
In terms of accommodations, Mongolian tents, villas of various classes and Huanggangliang Tourist Resort are available.
