With a planned area of 1.21 square kilometers, Ordos Comprehensive Bonded Zone was approved by the State Council to be launched in the Ordos Airport Logistics Park in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region in February 2017. At the end of 2018, the zone passed the national inspection and was ready to officially operate.
It is the first comprehensive bonded zone in the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin cluster. Hohhot, Baotou, and Ordos in Inner Mongolia and Yulin in Shaanxi province are encouraged to develop in a coordinated way according to the national strategy.
The zone is composed of two phase projects. The first phase project, covering 0.79 square kilometers, was completed in November 2018 with supporting infrastructures and well-equipped facilities. By the end of 2018, a total of 29 projects with a total investment of 9.5 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) have been signed between the zone and firms such as Chery, Taihua Group, and Erdos Group.
Upon its operation, both local residents and firms registered in the zone can enjoy benefits. For local residents, they can buy imported products at preferential prices. Firms in the zone will save more capital due to cost reduction when they can conduct bonded processing and warehousing.
