Mongolian horse-themed expo opens in Hohhot

An exhibition on the intangible cultural heritage of the Mongolian horse opened at the Inner Mongolia Exhibition Center in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 20.

Organizers said the event was an important activity staged during the 2nd China Horse Culture Festival.

The Inner Mongolia International Horse Culture Expo, a seven-day event, consists of four parts: an introduction to the Mongolian horse, the "gear" of the Mongolian horse, the local people's reverence for the Mongolian horse and the indomitable spirit of the horse.

Organizers said the exhibition is focusing on the intangible cultural heritage of the Mongolian horse and its culture derivatives. Organizers said the event is displaying 40 categories of exhibits including rock paintings of horses, saddles and seals of various materials and 19 examples of intangible cultural heritage related to the Mongolian horse.

During the exhibition, talks and demonstrations will be held to give visitors a deeper understanding of Mongolian horse culture.

In addition, horse-themed film screenings and a market for traditional handicrafts, will among other things be staged to allow visitors to enjoy the unique cultural tourism and creative products of the region.
