Urban nadam of ice, snow kicks off in Ordos

An opening ceremony for the second urban nadam -- or festival -- of ice and snow was held at the ice-snow themed park in Kangbashi district in Ordos, a city of northern China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Nov 30 -- aiming to promote the popularity of ice and snow-themed tourism.

According to local media reports, this year's Kangbashi ice-snow themed park covers an area of about 44,000 square meters. It integrates of leisure and viewing, ice and snow entertainment, physical exercise and parent-child activities.

The park is divided into sections including areas to entertain children. There is also a fantasy snow park, as well as areas for snacks and interactive performances.

At the same time, there are seven ice sports and entertainment events and nine snow sports and entertainment events in the park.

Park officials said these bring different experiences and enjoyment for both locals and tourists.

More than 10 activities will be carried out during the period of the ice and snow nadam, which will run to  Feb 8, 2020.
